Best Time to Visit Egypt from India — 2026 Season Guide with Prices & Weather

The Short Answer: October to April

If you're looking for a quick answer — visit Egypt between October and April. During these months, daytime temperatures hover between 20-30°C, making outdoor sightseeing comfortable without the brutal summer heat.

But the "best" time really depends on what matters most to you: weather, budget, crowds, or specific experiences. Let's break down each month so you can pick the perfect window for your Egypt trip from India.

At Trolly Good Fellow, we've operated Egypt group tours in every month from October to April. We've seen the Pyramids in December morning mist, sailed the Nile in February sunshine, and explored Luxor temples in November's gentle warmth. Each month has its magic — this guide will help you find yours.

Month-by-Month Weather & Experience Guide

October — The Start of Paradise Average temperature: 25-32°C Crowd level: Low to Medium Flight prices from India: ₹28,000-38,000 return Our verdict: ★★★★☆

October marks the end of Egypt's scorching summer. By mid-October, the heat breaks and sightseeing becomes genuinely enjoyable. The Nile is still warm enough for comfortable swimming. This is a hidden gem month — fewer tourists than peak season, lower prices, and pleasant weather. The only downside: early October can still feel warm, especially in Luxor and Aswan.

November — Sweet Spot for Smart Travelers Average temperature: 20-28°C Crowd level: Medium Flight prices from India: ₹25,000-35,000 return Our verdict: ★★★★★

November is arguably the best month to visit Egypt from India. The weather is perfect — warm days, cool evenings, and clear blue skies. Tourist crowds haven't hit peak season levels yet, meaning shorter queues at the Pyramids and Valley of the Kings. Hotel prices are still pre-peak, giving you excellent value. November is when we schedule our most popular Egypt group departures.

December — Peak Season, Peak Magic Average temperature: 15-22°C Crowd level: High Flight prices from India: ₹35,000-50,000 return Our verdict: ★★★★★

December is Egypt's most popular tourist month. The weather is cool and comfortable — you might even want a light jacket in the evenings. Christmas and New Year bring festive energy to Cairo and Luxor. The downside: higher prices and bigger crowds, especially around Christmas week. If you're visiting in December, book at least 3 months in advance.

January — Coolest Month, Clear Skies Average temperature: 12-20°C Crowd level: Medium-High Flight prices from India: ₹28,000-40,000 return Our verdict: ★★★★☆

January is the coolest month in Egypt. In Cairo, mornings can dip to 8-10°C (bring layers!). The upside: crystal-clear skies make for spectacular Pyramid photos, and the Nile Cruise experience is magical in crisp cool air. Crowds start thinning after the New Year rush. This is an excellent month for photography enthusiasts.

February — Our Personal Favorite Average temperature: 14-22°C Crowd level: Low-Medium Flight prices from India: ₹25,000-35,000 return Our verdict: ★★★★★

February is our founders' favorite time to visit Egypt. The weather is warming up beautifully, winter crowds have departed, and spring energy fills the air. Prices drop to shoulder-season levels while weather remains excellent. The desert blooms with occasional wildflowers, and the Nile is at its most photogenic. This is the sweet spot for value-conscious travelers who want great weather WITHOUT the crowds.

March — Warming Up Nicely Average temperature: 18-26°C Crowd level: Medium Flight prices from India: ₹27,000-38,000 return Our verdict: ★★★★☆

March brings spring warmth without summer intensity. This is the last comfortable month before temperatures start climbing seriously. The occasional khamsin (sandstorm) can occur — it's dramatic but rare and short-lived. March coincides with India's Holi break, making it a popular departure window for Indian travelers.

April — The Last Window Average temperature: 22-32°C Crowd level: Low Flight prices from India: ₹25,000-35,000 return Our verdict: ★★★☆☆

April is transition month. Mornings are pleasant but afternoons can get warm, especially in Upper Egypt (Luxor/Aswan). Start sightseeing early and take a midday break. The upside: this is one of the cheapest months to visit, with excellent hotel deals and empty tourist sites.

May to September — We Don't Recommend Temperatures regularly exceed 40°C and can hit 48°C in the desert. Outdoor sightseeing is painful and potentially dangerous. We do not operate Egypt group tours during these months — your health and comfort come first.

Special Events & Festivals in Egypt by Month

Timing your Egypt visit around a cultural event or festival adds an unforgettable layer to your experience:

October: Sphinx Festival (Sound & Light show at the Pyramids gets extended hours) November: Cairo International Film Festival — Egypt's biggest film event, with screenings and celebrity appearances December-January: Christmas and New Year are celebrated enthusiastically in Egypt's Coptic Christian community (about 10% of the population). The ambiance in Cairo is festive and joyful. February: Cairo Jazz Festival — world-class musicians perform in the shadow of the Pyramids March: Mother's Day in Egypt (March 21st) — a national holiday with celebrations everywhere April: Sham el-Nessim — Egypt's spring festival, dating back to pharaonic times! Egyptians celebrate by eating salted fish (fesikh) and colored eggs outdoors. It's like Egyptian Holi!

Ramadan: The Islamic holy month moves dates each year (in 2026, expected in February-March). During Ramadan, some restaurants close during daytime, but tourist areas operate normally. The evening iftar (breaking of fast) meals are incredibly festive — joining one is a beautiful cultural experience. Our trip leaders ensure your experience is seamless during Ramadan.

Our Recommendation: When to Book Your Egypt Trip

Based on taking 482+ Indian travelers to Egypt, here's our honest recommendation:

For first-time visitors: November or February. Both offer perfect weather, manageable crowds, and great value. November has the advantage of being slightly warmer, while February offers the best prices of the premium season.

For budget travelers: April or October. Lower hotel prices, cheaper flights, and empty tourist sites — just be prepared for some warmth in the afternoon.

For luxury travelers: December or January. Peak season means the best Nile Cruise options are running, hotels are at their most festive, and the weather is cool and comfortable.

For photography enthusiasts: January or February. The low winter sun creates dramatic shadows on the Pyramids and temples, and the clear skies mean perfect golden hour shots.

For couples/honeymoons: November. Romantic Nile Cruise conditions, comfortable weather for desert camping, and enough crowd-free moments for intimate experiences.
