Diwali International Trips from India 2026: Where 4-7 Days Actually Work

Every year at Trolly Good Fellow, the Diwali-week inquiries start arriving in August, and every year my first answer is the same: open the calendar before you open the brochures. Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday the 6th and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday the 10th.

That placement is unusually kind to working travelers. If your office observes the festival with Monday and Tuesday (9-10 November) off, you are holding a four-to-five-day window — Saturday the 7th through Tuesday the 10th, stretchable with a Friday-night flight — without filing a single leave application. Add just three days of leave (Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th) and the window becomes nine days, 7-15 November. Three leaves, nine days abroad: that ratio comes around maybe once in three years.

The catch is that everyone else in India holds the same calendar, so festival-week flights out of Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi price up early. The trick is not to fight that — it is to point the window at destinations where November is genuinely the right month, book by early September, and let the weather do the rest.

I design every itinerary we run, and I have watched November flatter some of our destinations and quietly ruin others. Here is the honest map — including the two places I will talk you out of, with our own climate data as evidence.

If you can stretch to the nine-day window, this is my first answer. November is one of the two sweet-spot months for Egypt — our Egypt tour packages from India run only in the October-April season precisely because of what summer does to the desert, and by Diwali week the country is at its best. Our ten-year climate averages say Cairo in November sits at a 26°C daytime high with 15°C nights and a single rain day all month; Luxor runs 29°C and bone-dry. That is sightseeing weather in its purest form — you can stand on the Giza plateau at noon without the 40°C punishment of June.

The 8-day flagship format — pyramids, Luxor, the Nile — is ₹98,000 all-inclusive, and departing Saturday 7 November brings you home on the 14th: Monday-Tuesday festival holidays plus three leaves and a weekend cover it. Diwali itself you would spend on the Nile, which sounds like sacrilege until you have seen lamps on the water from a cruise deck.

If your window is shorter, the 4-day Cairo Getaway at ₹24,444 is the most affordable way any Indian traveler can stand before the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World — it fits the no-leave version of the week entirely.

One practical note: the Egypt e-Visa ($25 single-entry) takes 3-5 business days to process, and we handle the paperwork for every traveler — but during festival season, give it two clear weeks.

Here is a piece of scheduling luck I did not engineer: our Jordan group tours depart every Monday and Tuesday, which in Diwali week 2026 means departures on Monday 9 November and Tuesday 10 November — exactly when your festival holidays begin.

And November suits Jordan beautifully. Petra in November averages a 20°C daytime high — crisp, clear walking weather for a site that is all walking; the Siq and the Treasury with a light jacket instead of summer glare. Wadi Rum runs about 21°C by day and drops toward 10°C at night, which is precisely what you want for a desert camp: warm tea, cold stars. Amman sits at 19°C. The occasional November shower exists (Amman averages five rain days), but it passes; this is shoulder season working in your favor — thinner crowds at Petra than the October peak.

The 4-day Petra Peek at ₹51,604 fits the festival-holidays-only window if you fly out Sunday night after Lakshmi Puja or Monday morning. The 7-day Jordan Jewels Complete at ₹99,522, departing Monday the 9th, brings you home Sunday the 15th — three days of leave if your office gives you the 9th and 10th.

Between Egypt and Jordan for Diwali week, my honest tiebreaker: Egypt if this is your once-in-five-years big trip, Jordan if you want the tightest leave-to-wonder ratio on the calendar.

If you are protecting your leave balance for a December wedding season — I see you — two destinations do a real international trip inside four to five days.

Azerbaijan is the value play of the season. The 4-day Baku break starts at ₹20,564 — less than many domestic Diwali airfares — and Baku in November is genuinely pleasant: around 14°C daytime, cool enough for the old city's lanes and the Caspian boulevard, mild enough that you are never fighting the weather. Flame Towers lit up at night have their own Diwali energy. This is the trip for the no-leave window: fly out Saturday the 7th, back Tuesday the 10th night.

Georgia in November is for travelers who like their autumn properly autumnal. Tbilisi runs about 11°C by day and 3°C at night — sulphur baths weather, khinkali weather, wine-cellar weather. The 4-day Tbilisi Taster starts at ₹35,686, and the city's balconied old town in low-season light is a photographer's gift. Pack real layers: this is the coldest recommendation on this list, and the mountain regions like Kazbegi are already dipping below freezing at night by mid-November, so keep the itinerary city-and-valley focused.

Neither destination asks for more than one or two days of leave, both keep the total budget (package plus incidentals) comfortably under a lakh per person, and both fly well out of Indian metros with short connections.

Now the part most Diwali listicles skip, because it costs them bookings. Two of our own destinations are the wrong call for Diwali 2026, and our own climate data says so.

Bali in November is the opening of the wet season, and not gently: Denpasar averages 25 rain days and over 200mm in November; Ubud runs 26 rain days. It will not rain all day every day — tropical rain comes in loud afternoon bursts — but on a 4-6 day trip, the odds of your one Uluwatu sunset or one volcano morning being rained out are simply too high. Bali is a magnificent April-to-October destination. Point your summer leave at it instead, and let Diwali be for the desert countries.

Kenya is subtler. November is the short-rains season — Nairobi averages 23 rain days, the Masai Mara about 15 — and the Great Migration is over: the crossings wind down through October, and by November the herds are back in Tanzania's Serengeti. The Mara's resident wildlife — the big cats stay year-round — still delivers, lodges drop to low-season rates, and the park is beautifully empty. So November Kenya is not bad; it is just not the ₹1,20,000 experience you are imagining when you book a safari. Our Kenya groups depart every Tuesday through the year, and my honest advice is to aim yours at the July-October migration window and give Diwali week to North Africa or the Caucasus.

Diwali week is the second-most-contested outbound window on the Indian calendar after New Year, and it rewards the organized. Here is the timeline I give our own travelers.

By early September (8-10 weeks out): lock the package and the flights. Festival-week fares from the metros climb steepest in the last six weeks; the difference between booking in September and booking in late October is routinely ₹8,000-15,000 per person on the same routes. Group departures also fill in order of calendar convenience — the 9 and 10 November Jordan departures will be the first to go, for the leave-math reasons above.

By mid-October: visas. The Egypt e-Visa is $25 and takes 3-5 business days officially, but festival season bunches applications, so we file our travelers' paperwork at least two weeks ahead. Whichever operator you travel with, do not let visa filing drift into the last ten days.

What to expect on price: the packages themselves — ₹20,564 for Baku, ₹51,604 for Petra Peek, ₹98,000 for the Egypt flagship, ₹99,522 for Jordan Jewels — hold steady; it is the airfare component that moves with the festival.
